Design Process

I follow a disciplined approach to solve problems visually. This process outlines my work methods and gives a look at how clients and I work together.

Stage 1 / Design Strategy Questionnaire

This series of questions is the first step in identifying the client’s objectives, audience, and the user’s needs. Responses to the questionnaire should be thorough, as this serves as the foundation of the project.

Stage 2 / Research

I take the information provided by the client into account and do competitor analysis, site map planning, and visual mapping.

Stage 3 / Conception

Sketching allows planned thoughts to merge with random concepts. Here a concept develops structure and leads to a polished look. A strong logo or website attains its value from the time invested in it during the early stage.

Stage 4 / Logo Design

An agreed number of logo options are presented to the client for review. Revisions, if necessary, are made to the selected logo. Logos are designed in Adobe Illustrator vector format.

Stage 5 / Homepage Design

An agreed number of homepage design mockups are presented to the client for review. Revisions, if necessary, are made to the selected homepage, and additional page design work proceeds.

Stage 6 / Development

Web pages are coded with semantic markup for search engine optimization. Dynamic websites are implemented into a content management system. Browser compatibility is tested with the latest major web browsers, and Google Analytics is setup for statistics tracking.

Stage 7 / Website Maintenance

Clients have the option to hire me for website updates or to make the updates themselves. With the implementation of a content management system, updates are easier and quicker to make.
